Reading information encoded on a BCARD
The BCARD is a contactless RFID
card referred to as a proximity card. Its special security features
prevent tampering and counterfeiting thereby ensuring event managers and
security personnel that attendee credentials are valid. This security also
presents the opportunity for event managers to store a broader range of
attendee information while still maintaining attendee privacy.
Read/write authentication protects unauthorized access while embedded serial
numbers guarantee the uniqueness of each card. The benefits of this powerful identification
media are designed to enhance the overall event experience for all
participants.
Event
management, exhibitors, service and security providers who have a need to
access BCARD information with their own applications have two
options available.
1) Serial Number Reconciliation: Each
BCARD contains a unique serial
number which can be read without controls or
licensing from ITN International. Developers can design applications to collect and store
card serial numbers. Post event, a file containing the
list of serial numbers can be sent to ITN for reconciliation. ITN will match
each serial number to the corresponding attendee record to create a complete
file of attendee data. Information on how to read contactless card
serial numbers is readily available and depends on the type of contactless
reader being used. For additional reader information contact Omnikey.com Test cards may
be purchased from ITN.
2) Direct Data Read: Real time access to the card information
is obtained by designing applications to use the SecucebCard.dll. This
Windows control requires a per seat / per event license to be purchased from
ITN. Licenses are encoded onto a SmartDongle USB security device which must be
attached to the system whenever reading data from the card. The SECURbCard.dll
allows all contact information encoded on the card to be safely read while
restricting access to other non public or private information. The control is
designed to work with the OmniKey
CardMan 5121/5321/6321 family of contactless readers which can be rented from ITN or purchased
separately. For more information refer to the SECURbCard1.dll API included in
the DevKit. PLEASE NOTE: Development kit is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista/2k3 Server/2k8 Server/Win7 32 & 64 bit
